AN AUTHENTIC COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
Our family acquired the farm in 1977, with the intention of healing the land and bringing it back to its natural, organic state after years of being exposed to harmful chemicals and conventional farming practices. Our ideals for the farm are based on respecting the earth and cultivating the land in a sustainable manner.
After 26 years of being certified organic, we have chosen to drop our certification while maintaining the same practices. These practices include creating our own compost by recycling all of the organic matter from the farm and purchasing certified organic fertilizers to add to our fertility.
ABOUT OUR NAME
Kuaiwi are pre-contact, ancient rock mounds, running from ocean to mountain. They were used during the Kona Field System to separate the Kihapai (growing fields). These features are visible on our farm.
